Hot Porridge Burns 3 Siblings to death in Bauchi



A marriage celebration turned tragic as hot porridge being transported in a tricycle popularly called "Keke Napep" in Bauchi has claimed the lives of three children.

The tricycle was overcrowded with 'three women and six children' conveying the porridge to the venue of the marriage celebration when the tricycle plunged into a porthole, it capsized and the hot content of the  big flask poured on the children, from their heads through the rest parts of their body.

A relative of the victims Auwal Bala said the tragedy occurred on Wednesday during the marriage celebration by a family member, "three of the children, namely Anita Yahaya, six years; Mariam Muhammad, nine years and Ibrahim Yusuf, nine months died from heavy burns while a fourth child, Khadijah Usman, age seven, is currently in a critical condition", Mr. Bala said.
