The Arsenal sensational striker and team captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang's current
contract with Arsenal gives the gunners an option to trigger a one year extension for a price, If Arsenal were to execute this option, the Gabon international's contract will expired in 2022 but both club and player decided against this as it would not have served either of their needs.

The Amount of money Arsenal would have  had to pay to trigger the extension was considered to be too small. The Gabonese is looking for long term contract and a 12  months extension to his current deal will not
meet his desire.

Arsenal and Aubameyang are lock in talks on a deal that would see the Gabonese forward extended his stay in North London. The player
is fond of life in London and has a good relationship with teammates and staffs at arsenal. He enjoyed playing for Mikel Arteta and has forged a good relationship with the Arsenal head coach.

The Spaniard has voiced his desire to see
Auba sign a new deal many times.

The Gabonese international is keen to
compete for trophies in the next few years as he has not won enough silverware to his career. The gunners hope to show him how ambitious they are about their future and convince him that he can achieve his goals in North London.

After setting a new record in the FA cup as
the first African to captain an English club to an FA Cup Final and also winning the the FA Cup, Auba is likely to pen a new contract with the Gunners.
